Woven wood shades are one of the popular window treatment formats that add aesthetic and eclectic style to your home or workplace. It keeps the shade clean and adds extra life to it.

Here are simple tips to clean and maintain woven wood shades easily.

1. Use a duster

Use a synthetic dust-attracting duster like microfiber cloth on the woven wood shades. Spray the duster with a spray dust repellent and dust across the slats from the top to the bottom. Move to the reverse side of the shades and dust it.

2. Vacuum clean the shades

Regular vacuuming is the best way to remove dust and keep it from building upon the woven wood shades. Use a flat vacuum attachment first on both sides of the shades and then vacuum it with a brush attachment afterward. The brush can loosen the dirt embedded within the weave. Most woven shades only need thorough vacuuming once a week.

3. Damp clean

Polishing the wooden slats not just renew its shine but also extends its life. The polish materials including thinner, wax, shellac, drying oil, lacquer, etc. safeguard the wood from pests and rodents. However, it should not be excessively used.
